I'M HAVING A MOMENT, PLS BARE WITH ME

One hundred years ago today, our little baby by the Bay was destroyed in a 7.9 quake that lasted just one minute. That's it. Sixty seconds resulting in three days of fires, no power, no shelter or help. An estimated 3,000 people were devoured by the natural disaster and over 500 city blocks were consumed by the earth.

Today, at this moment, I look out my office window and see a mass of beautiful sky scapers, the Bay waters crashing against the steel of the Bay Bridge, the sun shining brightly on the sidewalks built from blood and sweat of our fellow Frisconians and I think ... I love my City. It survived and came out more brilliant and vibrant than ever before and it keeps on getting better as the years move foward.

Today, I say a prayer for those lives lost in the quake of 1906 and also for New Orleans and the Katrina victims. One day, your city will be up and running again. You'll see ...
